Why do we love Chia Seeds so much? They are a superfood, which basically means they are really good for us. They deliver a massive amount of nutrients for very little calories. They are full of antioxidants. Which basically means they keep us healthy by fighting free radicals (unstable oxygen molecules) that can cause some trouble in our systems if left unattended. They are high in protein and omega 3 essential fatty acids. They are super fun to work with!
1.5 cups of cashew milk (see Note)
1/3 cup chia seeds
1/4 cup cacao powder
3 Tbsp of date syrup ( or other sweetener: you can add more sweetener according to your taste)
1/4 tsp sea salt
1. Mix everything together in a bowl, adding the sweeter last.
2. Put in the fridge overnight and the chia seeds will absorb the liquid.
3. Serve topped with fresh fruit.
Note: You can really change this to any milk but cashew is probably the easiest to make at home: 1 cup cashews / 4 cups water and blend until nice and smooth, You can soak the cashews ahead of time for a smoother milk. There is not need to use a nut milk bag for cashew milk, unlike almond milk.
