When we learnt that March 30th was World Idli Day, we couldn’t resist asking our wonderful Factory Manager Saraswathi to make her famous chocolate idlis! Apart from being an expert chocolate maker, Saraswathi is an amazing chef as well.

Saraswathi’s Chocolate idli recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 1 kg idli rice

  2. 15 gm fenugreek seed paste

  3. 150 gm urad dal

  4. 250 gm Mason & Co 75% Bittersweet Dark Chocolate

  5. Raisins and/or cashews to garnish

Process:

  1. Soak rice, urad dal and fenugreek for one hour in water

  2. Once soft, grind rice, urad dal and fenugreek into a paste

  3. Let rest for 5-6 hrs

  4. Melt Mason & Co 75% Bittersweet Dark Chocolate in a bowl

  5. Add melted chocolate to the idli paste

  6. Set aside for 5 minutes

  7. Add paste into idly moulds

  8. Option to add rasins or cashews as garnish on top

This chocolate idli recipe is such a creative twist! It’s wonderful to see traditional dishes reinvented with a modern touch. While enjoying this, I was reminded of how even Coneten College Assignments in Ireland encourage blending culture and innovation in their projects. Truly inspiring!

That sounds absolutely delightful! Chocolate idlis sound like such a creative twist on a cincinnati watch company classic favorite — Saraswathi must be truly talented to blend tradition and innovation so perfectly. I’d love to try those someday!
